Box Score 3 Dayton, OH – GRCC's Raider baseball team traveled south to visit the NJCAA's #8 Tartons of Sinclair Community College where they lost 2-of-3 games over two days. The Raiders second win of the season leaves their record at 2-12 overall while Sinclair adds their second loss for a 13-2 overall record.
Justin Palmbos earned his first win as a starter for GRCC pitching 6.2 innings allowing 7 hits, 3 runs—one earned—and 2 walks.
Sam Traver came in for the Raiders in relief pitching the remaining 2.1 innings allowing two hits and no earned runs while striking out one batter to earn the save.
Brenden Johnson and
Jalen Cox each went 2-for-4 with Johnson scoring two runs and Cox scoring one and adding a RBI.
John-Michael Moody and
Chase Huntey recorded RBI while 1-for-4 at the plate.
Saturday's pair of seven inning games resulted in losses for GRCC though game one remained tight until the end as GRCC led into the seventh.
Ean Walda earned his second loss of the season after coming for the 6
th inning allowing 5 hits and 3 earned runs with 3 walks and 3 strikeouts.
Brad Buurstra started game one for the Raiders pitching 5 innings allowing 5 hits, two earned runs, 1 walk and four strikeouts. Sam Traver faced one batter in the 8
th as the Raiders fell 5-6.
With momentum on their side the Tartons poured on the runs in the second game of the double-header delivering GRCC a 0-13 loss in five innings. GRCC recorded 5 errors and just two hits in the contest.
Trevor Russo picked up his third loss of the season pitching three innings with 7 hits, 10 runs—only three earned—with 3 walks and 3 strikeouts.
Jackson Shaver pitched one inning for the Raiders allowing 2 hits, 3 runs—none earned—and one walk.
GRCC is scheduled to take to the field next on April 2
nd 2016 to commence conference play hosting Macomb Community College for a double header at 1PM.
