Box Score 2 Summitt Township, Mich – GRCC's softball team split their double headers with Jackson College Monday, 3-9 and 18-5 and Lake Michigan College yesterday, 1-2 and 13-4, to improve to 2-8 in MCCAA play while 3-15 overall. Monday's win is the first in conference play for head coach Jenni Bourbina as the head coach of the Raiders.
The Raiders are now tied with Lake Michigan College for 7
th in the MCCAA West two games ahead of Glen Oaks and seven games behind the leading teams of Lansing and Kellogg Community College.
GRCC's
Jessi Ramos (Rockford, MI) extended her hitting streak to 8 games and leads the Raiders with a .522 batting average with at least one hit in 16 of 17 games this season. In addition to leading the Raiders in batting average, Ramos also leads her team in RBI (10), hits (24) total bases (37) and runs (9). Ramos has also recorded the only triple and home run for the Raiders this season.
Olivia Wolfe (Stanwood, MI) and
Kaitlynn Enders (Buchanan) trail Ramos with .311 averages at the plate. Each have recorded 14 hits this season with a handful RBI.
Enders picked up two wins to improve her record at the mound to 2-9 in 2015 throwing four innings against Jackson's Jets in the second game giving up six hits while allowing three earned runs with one walk and three strikeouts. She picked up her second win Tuesday pitching four innings with three strikeouts, two walks and three earned runs on three hits.
GRCC travels to Centerville on Friday for a double header against the Vikings of Glen Oaks Community College. Glen Oaks is 0-2 in MCCAA play thus far in 2015 while 0-10 overall.
