Grand Rapids, Mich – GRCC's men's basketball team advances to the semi-final round of the NJCAA District 9 Tournament as
Cameron Burhannon (Indianapolis, IN) drained a 15-footer with just 2.9 seconds to play to give the Raiders the 84-83 win over the fifth seeded Cougars of KVCC.
Burhannon led him team in scoring and rebounding with 30 and 9 while adding 4 assists, 2 blocks and a steal in the victory.
Gregory Fleming (Chicago, IL) finished the night with 24 points shooting 11-of-14 from the field with 2-of-3 from behind the arc.
DeMarkus Stuckey (Saginaw, MI) led his team with 7 assists adding seven points.
Calvin Ward III (Dallas, TX) went 7-of-10 from the field for 14 points while grabbing 5 rebounds and tallying 3 assists, steals and blocks.
Kalamazoo Valley's Devonte Harris led his team in scoring with 25 points while adding 4 assists and 4 steals. Terry Davis finished with a 12 point, 10 rebound double-double. Hunter Powell's 17 points left him second in scoring on the night, but it wasn't enough to keep the Cougar season alive as KVCC's 2014-15 campaign ended at the buzzer.
The fourth seeded Raiders will travel to Delta College on Friday, March 6
th 2015 to face the first seeded Redhawks of Lake Michigan College at 7:30PM.
The winner of that contest will face the winner of Muskegon Community College and Lansing Community College in the NJCAA District 9 Championship on Saturday, March 7
th at 7:30 for the opportunity to compete in the NJCAA Division II National Tournament in Danville, IL.
