Box Score Battle Creek, Mich. -- Grand Rapid Community College's baseball team's post-season run ends as Kellogg Community College's Bruins handed GRCC their second loss of the 2014 NJCAA Region XII Tournament 4-6. After a scoreless first, the Raiders led the Bruins 1-0 until the top of the fourth when Kellogg scored four runs to take the lead. GRCC rallied in the fifth and sixth innings adding three runs while holding Kellogg scoreless, but the Bruins responded with two runs in the eighth to take the 6-4 lead and the win.
Kellogg Community College dominated Vincennes Univeristy taking a 13-6 win in the championship game forcing another contest between the two teams as Vincennes had advanced through the tournament without a loss up until that point. In the second game, Vincennes Ryan Clark pitched a complete game allowing just 5 hits and 1 earned run with 3 strikeouts leading Vincennes to a Region XII Championship and World Series berth with a 13-1 win.
Vincennes last earned a trip the the NJCAA World Series in 2010 after downing the Bruins 9-7. Kellogg last represented Region XII at the 2011 World Series after a 8-2 win over Muskegon Community College in 2011. GRCC earned back to back berths into the World Series in 2012 and 2013. The Raiders have made 6 World Series appearances in the past 10 years.
One Raider left Battle Creek with some recognition as GRCC's
Garrett Veihl earned All-Tournament Team honors.
