Box Score 3 Grand Rapids, Mich -- GRCC opened up conference play against Ancilla College yesterday splitting with the Chargers 6-7 and 8-7. The Raiders now hold a 4-12 overall and 6th in the MCCAA West while Ancilla's 7-9 overall record leaves them in fourth place.
Ingrid Kukla got the start in game one pitching 5.2 innings with 9 hits, 6 earned runs and 3 walks with 1 strike out.
Billie Jo DeLisle entered the game in the fifth with the game tied at 6's and ultimately took the loss after pitching 1.1 innings allowing no hits with two walks and one earned run.
The Raiders had six hits in the first game with two coming off the bat of
Katie Klompstra who went 2-of-3 from the plate.
Amber Frye and
Nikki Yalacki had two RBI on one hit each.
Game two faired better for the Raiders as they rallied for a late 8-7 win behind Kukla who entered in the fifth inning delivering five strikeouts while allowing 4 hits, 4 runs--none earned--to earn the win.
Nikki Yalacki led the Raiders offensively going 4-of-4 from the plate with 4 RBI.
Taylor Young went 2-of-3 with two RBI and one walk including a walk-off two run single in the seventh to give her squad the 8-7 win.
GRCC is scheduled to host a double header against Muskegon Community College's Jayhawls on Friday April 11th at 3PM MCC is 1-8 overall and 7th in the MCCAA West.
