Box Score 2 Grand Rapids, Mich – The Raider softball team improves to 1-5 in the MCCAA West and 5-19 overall after splitting with Kellogg Community College Wednesday.
The Raiders rest in 8
th in the west while Kellogg is tied with Ancilla College in 6
th place.
In the first game GRCC was downed in five innings as Kellogg's Anorah Seita earned the 10-2 win pitching five innings allowing 8 hits, 2 earned runs and three strikeouts with no walks facing 23 batters.
GRCC's
Billie Jo DeLisle took the loss pitching 4.1 innings allowing 11 hits 10 runs—3 earned—while walking three and striking out three.
Despite getting a run on the board in the first, GRCC was down 1-4 by the start of the second and couldn't recover eventually losing 2-10.
Sophomores
Kaitlyn Guobis and
Amanda Steig led the Raiders offensively as Guobis went 2-of-3 with 1 RBI while Steig was 2-of-2 with 1 RBI.
Game two fared better for GRCC as
Ingrid Kukla delivered the 4-3 win pitching a complete game allowing 7 hits, three earned runs and four strikeouts to improve her record to 4-10. Kukla retired the first 12 and final six batters on the day.
Kellogg's Holiday Longstreth took the loss pitching six innings allowing seven hits, four earned runs, one walks and one strikeout.
Katie Klompstra knocked in the game winning single in the sixth inning of the second game to give the Raiders the 4-3 lead.
Steig went 4-for-4 in the doubleheader with one walk. Guobis was 3-of-5 with a sac bunt and two RBI.
The Raiders face 4-0 (15-5) Kalamazoo Valley Cougar team Friday in Kalamazoo for a double header commencing at 3PM.
