Grand Rapids, Mich -- GRCC's softball team hosts 1-8 Muskegon Community College today at Belknap Park for a double header contest starting at 3:00PM. The Raiders being today's games with a 4-14 record and in sixth place in the MCCAA West.
Each team will need production from their team's leaders, highlighted below, to bring home the W's.
Sophomore
Kaitlyn Guobis leads the Raiders offensely with a .429 batting average with two doubles, two RBI and two home runs after 16 games in 2014. Guobis also leads GRCC in total bases (27), slugging percentage (.643) and on base percentage at (.468). Freshman
Amber Ballard has started 17-of-17 contests for the Raiders while hitting .340 and leading the team in doubles with 4.
Amber Frye leads her team in home runs (3), runs (12) and has recorded the most RBI for GRCC with 13. She is second only to Guobis in total bases with 16 and on base percentage with .605.
Sophomore pitcher
Ingrid Kukla is 2-8 with a 7.04 ERA thus far in 2014. Kukla has pitched 54.2 innings allowing 85 hits and 55 earned runs with 29 strikeouts. Freshman Pitcher
Billie Jo DeLisle has accumulated a 1-5 record with a 5.75 ERA over 35.1 innings. She's struck out 9 batters while allowing 64 hits and 29 earned runs. Freshman
Mackenzie Allan has made four appearnaces in 2014 earning a 5.00 ERA in just 7 innings.
Muskegon's Jayhawks are led by Sophomore Emily Peake. Peake has 10 hits in 2014 with one double and three RBI. Sophomore pitcher Megan Vanderwal is the Jayhawks ace with a 3.25 ERA. Vanderwal has pitched 36.2 innings allowing 44 hits, 17 earned runs, 11 walks and 14 strikeouts in 2014.
