Box Score Benton Harbor, Mich – Lake Michigan College proved to be too much for the GRCC men's basketball team as the Raider fall to 10-5 in MCCAA play following a 71-84 loss to the 6
th place Red Hawks.
GRCC came out swinging in the first half leading 11-2 behind freshman DeMarkus Stuckey in the opening minutes of the game. GRCC's lead got just one point higher at 22-10 before the Red Hawks began their comeback effort.
Late in the first GRCC trailed by 5 as the Hawks outscored GRCC 25-10 to close the half at 35-32.
DeMarkus Stuckey led GRCC offensively in the half shooting a perfect 6-of-6 from the field including 4-of-4 from behind the arc. The rest of the Raiders struggled making just 5-of-23 attempts from the field.
The Raiders had no response for the Red Hawks in the second. Lake Michigan shot 60% to the Raiders 39% in the second with 4-of-7 for three to the Raiders 4-of-16. With three minutes to play the Red Hawks took an 18 point lead and never looked back offing the Raiders 84-71.
Five Red Hawks finished the night with double digit scoring figures with Ken Coates leading the way with 19 points.
Stuckey led his Raiders in scoring with 23.
Courtney Hill finished with 14.
Willie Duke led the Raiders in rebounds with 8.
The Raiders now host a 12-3 Kalamazoo Valley Community College team Wednesday night at 7:30PM to close out their regular season before heading into District Tournament play.
