Grand Rapids, Mich. – GRCC staked claim to their fifth conference championship in the past seven seasons on Tuesday night by taking down the Red Hawks of Lake Michigan College (25-10, 25-17, 25-9). With the win the Raiders moved to 14-0 remaining undefeated in conference play, only the third time in program history that feat has been accomplished. The Raiders will be the number one seed in the MCCAA Tournament this weekend.

The Lady Raiders physically overpowered the Red Hawks from the onset of the match. Abbie Gortsema led the offensive charge with 14 kills. Setters Michelle Holland and Jamie Barrows dished out 14 and 13 helpers respectively. On Defense, GRCC sent back 17 of the Red Hawks kill attempts, led by Dacey Cook and Abbie with 3 blocks apiece. The three ninjas, Maddie Stankus (7 digs), Audrey Wyse (8 digs) and Amanda Glaza (11 digs) were amazing on the defensive side, turning sure points for Lake Michigan College into transition points for the Raiders. As a team, GRCC combined for 8 aces to only 4 serving errors, 34 kills to 10 attack errors and 10 blocks to only 1 blocking error.

GRCC will play on Saturday, October 25^th in Auburn Hills, MI at 12:00 p.m. against the winner of Mott v. Lansing.
