Men's basketball wins at the buzzer 80-77 while the women fall 51-69

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Kalamazoo, Mich – GRCC's women's basketball falls to 3-5 in conference play after a 51-69 loss to KVCC's Cougars and GRCC's men's 80-77 buzzer-beater win pushes them to 5-3 in conference play.

GRCC's women play neck-and-neck with the Cougars until the final few minutes of the first half.  Tied at 20 with 7:16, KVCC went on a 16-5 run to close the half leading GRCC 36-25.  The Raiders started the second half missing their first 7 field goal attempts while Kalamazoo pressed on.   GRCC came within 10 points in the second half, but ultimately fell to the #2 Cougars 51-69.

Kalamazoo was led in by Mallory Sewell who finished with a team high 22 points and 11 rebounds.  Kelly Adamski led KVCC in assists with 5.  Allison Kirk added 7 points and 9 rebounds for the Cougars while a host of others chipped in as only two members of the team didn't finish with a point.

GRCC was led in scoring by Kayla Rosinski.  Rosinski finished having led her team in points and steals with 19 and 5 steals while allowing a team-high 9 turnovers.  Stephanie Stevens, who played 40 minutes, led the Raiders in assists with 6 but struggled from the field shooting just 3-of-12 for 6 points.

Danielle Harrison and Alyssa VandenBerge finished the night with 9 rebounds each while combining for 15 points.
The Lady Raiders now hold 7th place in the MCCAA west five games out of first place.

GRCC's men ended their own two game losing streak while ending Kalamazoo's five game win streak with an intense 80-77 win.  The Raiders trailed at half 32-36 with Miles Robinson leading the Raiders with 9 points and C.J. Mackey trailing with 7 points and 7 rebounds.

GRCC trailed by 11 with just under five minutes to play but battled to within 3 points 74-77 with just 17 seconds on the game clock.  With 9.1 second on the clock Arthur Pearson hit a deep three to tie the game.  KVCC's next possession witnessed Devonte Harris's shot blocked by Cameron Burhannon.  Mackey rebounded the shot pushing it to Courtney Hill who hit a three mid-stride to end the game as the buzzer sounded.

Former KVCC Cougar turned Raider Courtney Hill led GRCC in scoring with 21 points shooting 7-15 from the field while 1-of-5 from behind the arc.  Hill added 7 rebounds 3 steals and three blocks to his stats in 33 minutes of play.

Miles Robinson trailed Hill in scoring by one finishing with 20 points.  CJ Mackey led the Raiders in rebounds with 9 while adding 11 points.

Cameron Burhannon and Arthur Pearson each scored 10 points.

Both Raider teams have a week off before hosting the Bruins of Kellogg Community College on February 5th.
