Raiders sweep Ancilla on the road

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Plymouth, IN – Grand Rapids Community College men's and women's basketball teams returned home from Ancilla College wins as the women bested the Chargers 76-60 and the men won 86-80.

The win improves the women's record to 1-3 in conference and 2-10 overall.  The men's team now rest in third with a 3-1 conference record while 9-4 overall.

Ancilla's women's team recorded just one win in 2013-14 and holds the second to last spot in the West ahead of Jackson College who is yet to win a conference game this season.

On the other hand, Ancilla's men have had a successful run thus far now 3-2 in conference play while 6-10 overall.  The Charges now rest in fourth place with Lake Michigan 1.5 games out of first behind Glen Oaks.  Kalamazoo Valley and Grand Rapids claim second and third .5 and 1.0 games out of first respectively.

Sophomore Danielle Harrison had a monster night leading her team with 20 points and 16 rebounds while adding 4 block and 4 steals for good measure. 

Stephanie Stevens lead GRCC in scoring with 25 and tacked on 4 assists and 5 steals.

Sara Karamol led the Raiders in assists with 6 and contributed 11 points and 9 rebounds.

Ancilla's Chargers were led by Hope Wagner who finished the night with 34 points and six rebounds.   Brittany Himes led the Charges in rebounds with 9.

Only five players suited up for the Lady Charges.

GRCC's men's team was led by freshman DeMarkus Stuckey who finished the night with 31 points shooting 7-of-10 from the arc.  Stuckey added 2 assists, 7 rebounds and a steal to aid in the 86-80 victory.

C.J. Mackey grabbed a team high 13 rebounds while adding 7 points, 4 blocks and one assist.

Miles Robinson finished with 20 points 5 rebounds and 1 steal.

GRCC travels to Jackson College on Monday January 20th for a doubleheader against the Jets.

Jackson's women's team is winless in conference play, but looking to snap a five game losing streak.  Jackson's men are also on the rebound having lost four straight while winless in conference play.

The women's game tips off at 5:30 with the men starting play at 7:30PM.
