Grand Rapids, MI -- At 9-9 and on a two game win streak following a strong showing at the Kankakee Invitational this past weekend, GRCC is gearing up for their home opener against Kellogg Comminity College's Bruins on Thursday April, 4th.

The Bruins are struggling early on this season with a 1-11 overall record while 1-5 in MCCAA play.  Kellogg is led thus far by sohomore Michaela Marble who leads the team with her .381 batting average and .458 on base percentage.  She leads her team in runs with four, but has failed to deliver an RBI--a category led by Mackenzie Gibson--who leads the Bruins with 4.

The Raiders, while only even on the year after a rocky spring trip, are a cool 2-0 in MCCCC play after two close wins over Kankaee and Lake County (IL).

GRCC is led in batting by Tiffanie Wolan with a .446 averge.  Wolan leads the Raiders in hits with 25 while racking up 14 runs.  Additioanlly, Wolan leads her team in RBI with 16 and on-base percentage with .447.

Freshman Amber Frye and Megan Lee are making a splash too after a few powerful performances.  Lee has recoreded three home runs and 12 RBI with a .389 batting average and a .630 slugging percentage.  Frye sent two balls out of the park alrady while adding three doubles.

Tiani Beck's bat is also heating up.  Beck has recoreded a .418 average with 12 RBI, 4 doubles and one home run.

Sophomore Russelle Slimmen leads her team in ERA with a 3.57 in 15 innings with a 2-0 record.  Freshman Ingrid Kukla trails with a 4.08 in 48 innings and a 4-4 record.  Kukla has more than twice the strikeouts of the rest of the Raider's pitching staff combined with 48 on the season.

Tomorrow's game will take place at Northview High School located at 4451 Hunsburger Road.  The first game of the double header will start at 3PM.
