Box Score 2 Battle Creek, MI -- GRCC's 16th ranked softball squad clinched a berth into the NJCAA Distrcit G Tournament with a pair of wins over Kellogg Community College on Sunday.
Still tied for first place in the MCCAA West with Kalamazoo Valley Community College's Cougars, the Raiders are 23-3 in MCCAA play while holding a 30-12 record overall.
In game one of the doubleheader
Ingrid Kukla picked up her 17th win of the season pitching a complete game. Kukla struck out 8 and walked none while allowing seven hits with one earned run.
Leading the Raiders at the plate were
Kaitlyn Guobis and
Danielle Goad Guobis went 3-of-3 with one walk, two RBI, and one run scored. Goad hit 3-of-4 scoring two run on a solo homer earning two RBI.
Game two brought sophomore pitcher
Russelle Slimmen to the mound where she earned her fifth win of the season pitching seven innings allowing six hits and no runs with five strikeouts and one walk.
Kaitlyn Schneider led GRCC with two hits on four at bats scoring one run with one RBI.
GRCC's Raiders will battle it out for first place in the MCCAA West with Kalamazoo Valley Community College's Cougars as the Cougars travel to Grand Rapids for a doubleheader on Tuesday the 30th of April at Belknape Park at 3:00PM.
