Both the men and women are aiming to turn things around, each having dropped their previous game against Kalamazoo Valley Community College.
The ladies will take to the court first at the Gordon Hunsberger Arena at 5:30, and will undoubtedly be in for an extremely tough match. Kellogg Community College and GRCC currently share the 5th in the West slot, but Kellogg has been struggling as of late. The Bruins have dropped three consecutive victories, and the Raiders hope to make it four.
Despite being down to only 6 girls, the Raiders have proved that they still remain an extremely competitive squad. In a match reminiscent of David and Goliath, the Raiders nearly offed nationally ranked Kalamazoo Valley Community College. In fact, had they had just one extra set of legs, they may have been able to pull off the victory.
The men follow at 7:30 PM.
Having dropped the match the last time the two met, the Raiders are out for vengeance. GRCC is currently tied with Kellogg for fourth in the MCCAA’s Western Conference standings, and a win would seal their positions. Despite having an impressive amount of talent, the guys can’t seem to play with quite enough chemistry to put together a string of wins.
GRCC are ranked 5th in the West, and have now lost 3 of their last 4 matches. The rough patch is quite a swing from their early season nod as the 19th ranked team in the nation. The struggling Raiders need the win to build some confidence heading into a tough Friday night match.
The Raiders take on what Coach Zach Ingles calls the best team in the nation. The Glen Oaks Vikings bested GRCC earlier in the season by nearly 20 points. A victory over GOCC would surely garner some attention from the NJCAA ranking committee.
