Stars' shooting leads to 79-88 Raider loss

Box Score Grand Rapids, MI – A cool down in the second half leaves GRCC’s men’s basketball team at 3-4 in MCCAA West play and 10-7 overall as they fell to Lansing Community College’s Stars 79-88 despite a halftime lead.

GRCC was out rebounded 59-41, shoot an abysmal 5-of-18 from the line and shot .231 from the behind the arc.  It wasn’t their night, surely.

GRCC was led by Alex Mustert who finished the night with 21 points and 5 rebounds.  Freshmen Daryl White and Deontae Hudson each scored 13 for GRCC while Kevin Badger added 12 on the night.

Guard Miles Robinson—who normally shoots .462 from behind the arc--went 1-for-9 on the night making just 1 of 8 three point attempts.

Devin Longoria came off the bench in the first half delivering 8 points, shooting 2-of-3 from the arc in 7 minutes of play.

What got into the Raiders line up did not affect Lansing’s Stars.  Lansing’s starting lineup accounted for 90% of their scoring, and score they did.

Lansing’s Devlin Bell and Tyrin Wade both recorded double-doubles in points and rebounds.  Travion Babers scored 16, George Goodman contributed 22, and Eron Jackson added 9 for good measure.

The rest of the Stars bench scored 9—the exact margin of victory for the Stars.

Two losses in a row is not a slump, but the three consecutive losses of the Raiders next opponent—Lake Michigan College—is.

GRCC’s Raiders need to get back on track with a win over the 8-7 Red Hawks when they face off Wednesday, January 30th at 7:30PM
