Grand Rapids, MI – The Raider Volleyball team is back on campus ready to open their conference following the weekend’s 4-1 finish against some tough Region 1 competition.
The Raiders managed wins against Phoenix, South Mountain, Chandler-Gilbert and Scottsdale, but fell to #6 Glendale College who beat the Raiders in four sets.
With a loss on the books, the Raiders could see a drop in the national rankings. Given that they’ve played nine of the top fifteen ranked teams in the NJCAA and beaten all but one of them, one shouldn’t expect to see the fall too far down the ranks.
With three of the toughest scheduled weeks in NJCAA play behind them, GRCC’s team must prepare to defend the titles they are still holding.
As the 2011 MCCAA West, MCCAA, and NJCAA Region XII District F Champions the Raiders have much to defend as they enter conference play.
Visiting the Raiders Tuedsay from the MCCAA West are the Red Hawks of Lake Michigan College. Lake Michigan brings with them an overall record of 2-3 following wins against the College of DuPage and St. Louis Community College and losses to Highland Community College, Madison College and Jackson Community College.
Following Tuesday’s home opener the Raiders will travel to Lansing Community College to face the stars on Thursday September 13 at 6:30 PM.
