Grand Rapids, MI -- Its not all about the numbers on the scoreboard for most of GRCC's student-athletes. While each of GRCC's Raiders aim for academic and athletic success, five Raiders found success in both and were honored by the NJCAA for having truly outstanding academic credentials.
Earning Exemplary Academic Achievement Awards for GRCC were
Derek Roe (Golf),
Jared Theisen (Baseball),
Grant Tracy (Men's Basketball) and
Heather Williams (Women's Tennis). Each athlete earned a minimum of 45 credit hours with a GPA over a 3.6.
Earning the highest award for the Raiders this year was GRCC's
Jonathan Sper. Sper was a Tight End for the Raiders during his last season this fall, and last season for football, ever. With a GPA of 3.8 of higher, Sper earned the NJCAA's Superior Academic Achievement Award.
