Battle Creek, Mich -- GRCC's down, but not out following a 0-6 loss to Ancilla College in the first round of the NJCAA Division II District G Tournament.

The Raiders struggled at the plate with only four hits on the day, but what truly kept GRCC out of contention of the win were errors.  GRCC's six errors all came before the fifth inning.  Despite only going down by three runs, that momentum swing was all the Chargers needed to keep thier offense alive.

Raider Pitcher Kayla Goodwin went 5.1 innings giving up seven hits, four earned runs and walked three batters.  Emily Karbutowski took over for the last 1.2 innings giving up only one hit, no runs and one strike out.

Ancilla's Courtney Clark pitched a complete game--and an impressive one a that--giving up only four hits with no runs or walks and four strikeouts.

With one loss in the books the Raiders now face #12 nationally ranked Owens Community College who lost 2-0 to Muskegon Community College this evening.

The Raiders are 1-3 against the Owen's Express in 2012.  While those odds are not necessarily in the Raider's favor statistically, it does prove the Raiders have the capacity to beat some of the NJCAA's best on any given day.

With the rest of their season at stake, expect the Raiders to return to Bailey Park ready to play their best ball of the season tomorrow afternoon.  Game time is 12pm.
