Grand Rapids, Mich. -- GRCC's Raider softball team is headed to the NJCAA District G tournament following the split series with Kellogg Community College's Bruins. The Raiders are 17-11 in the MCCAA West and 26-19 overall in 2012.
The Raiders won the first of the two game series against Kellogg 3-1.
Kayla Goodwin pitched a complete game giving up only four hits and two walks with seven strikeouts.

Tiffanie Wolan and
Danielle Goad all went 2-for-3 in game one. With a score of 2-1,
Goad hit a solo home run--her ninth of the year--to put the Raiders up by two. The Bruins had no rebuttle in the seventh as the Raiders won 3-1.
In the second of the games, GRCC's momentum didn't provide the surge they'd hoped for. Both the Raiders and the Bruins were held scoreless in the first three innings. In the fourth, Kellogg's McKenzie Kendall doubled to center putting the Bruins up by 1. The Raider's
Danielle Goad answered in the sixth as she singled to center scoring
Chelsea Hutchison.
In the eigth inning, Kellogg sent home three runners to go up by three. The Raiders responded as
Goad singled to score
Hutchison again, and
Tiani Beck hit a sac fly to to score
Tiffanie Wolan.
Despite having no outs in the inning, GRCC's bats couldn't send in another run as the Raiders lost 3-4.
The Raiders face three tough teams this week before heading to the District Tournament. Tuesday GRCC visists Ancilla College. Ancilla is 13-15 in the MCCAA West, 28-16 overall, and 1-1 against the Raiders this season.
On Thursday May 3, GRCC visits Lake Michigan College. The Indians are 10-16 in the MCCAA West, 12-22 overall and 1-1 against GRCC.
Friday May 4th, the Raiders host their last home game of the season against the #2 team in the MCCAA East, Macomb Community College. Macomb is 17-7 in the MCCAA East, 29-19 overall and has secured a birth into the NJCAA District H tournament.
