Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

Grand Rapids, MI – The GRCC Raiders softball team earned its 13th and 14th consecutive wins against the Vikings of Glen Oaks CC on Saturday. The Raiders pummeled a depleted Glen Oaks squad, earning a 22-4 victory in the first game and a 16-0 win in the second.

The Raiders started the afternoon strong. Collectively, the team earned 17 hits in the first game, and scored a whopping 22 times. Leading the Raiders offensive charge was Danielle Goad with her third homer in as many games. Tiffanie Wolan scored 4 times in the game and had 4 hits, including a triple. Seven Raiders had a pair of hits or better during play.

Casey Swink and Emily Karbutowski split the pitching duties in the opening round of play for the Raiders. Swink pitched 3 innings to earn the win.

The second game of the afternoon was more of the same. The Raiders high octane offense continued to be a force to be reckoned with, and Glen Oaks just couldn’t keep up.

GRCC earned 16 runs during the game and had 13 total hits. Leading their squad were Megan Galganski and Kayla Goodwin, each with 4 RBI’s. Tiani Beck and Tiffanie Wolan each had 3 hits.

Casey Cherry earned her 5th win of the season, and threw 5 strikeouts along the way. She held the Vikings to only 2 hits before Russelle Slimmen stepped in to pitch the final inning of play.

The surging Raiders are functioning as a fine-tuned machine. Stellar pitching, solid defensive play, and batters with some serious clout have the girls on a 14 game win streak. The Raiders take the diamond next on Thursday when they’ll face off against a powerful Kalamazoo Valley Community College squad, the 19th ranked team in the nation.
