Perrysburg, OH-- GRCC's Raiders split a doubleheader with the 9th ranked Express of Owens Community College yesterday giving up the first game 1-5 and taking second 10-9.
The Raiders hit a bit of a slump losing 5 in a row after compliling an impressive 14 game win streak earler in the season. A split series with Kellogg Community College put the Raiders back on track, but facing the 9th ranked Express was hardly the easiest road back to a long win streak.
In the first of the two games GRCC was held to six hits and only one run as
Tiani Beck doubled to center scoring
Kelsey Caposey in the sixth inning. The Express' Ashlyn Michalak struck out 9 batters in six innings.
Despite the first game loss, the Raiders dug in and walked away with a 10-9 win. Down 3-10 at the start of the 6th inning, the Express fought back scoring 6 before closing out the side. While unable to pad their lead, the Raiders extinguished the Express' late rally in the 7th to win.
In the second game
Tiani Beck went 2-for-4 with two doubles and 3 RBIs while crossing home plate twice herself.
Kaitlyn Schneider delivered a triple and was 3-for-4 with 2 RBIs and 2 runs.
Casey Cherry earned her seventh win of the season.
The Raiders host Ancilla College (19-5) on Thursday April 12 at 3:00pm.
