Box Score 4 Tallahassee, FL-- The Raiders squared off against Tallahassee Community College in a double header for the second time in as many days. This time around the results were not what the team hoped for, and the squad dropped the games 10-2 and 5-6 respectively.
The last time the 2 squads met GRCC snuck by with a 9-8 victory. This time around Tallahassee meant business from the start. GRCC opened the scoring when sophomore
Steve Ayala singled to left to bring
Drew Dunbar home.
Brendan Bender grounded out and the Eagles made a double play.
Tallahasse scored 3 runs in the bottom of the first to gain the lead, and the Raiders would never recover. The Eagles added a pair of runs in the bottom of the third and four more in the fourth before scoring their final run in the bottom of the 6th inning. The Raiders second and final run of the game came in the top of the second when
Dan Emmerich singled to right to drive teammate
Jared Orban home.
Ty Wilson pitched 4 innings for the Raiders. He allowed 9 hits, 9 runs, and had 4 strikeouts.
Tyler Fults closed out the game for the Raiders and allowed 3 hits and 1 run. Tomas Nolan pitched the entire game for Tallahassee.
The second game started with both teams scoring a pair of runs in the first inning. Dunbar scored on a Bender single and Bender scored on a
Christian Lienesch single to short for the Raiders.
The Eagles responded with a pair of runs in the bottom of the first and another pair of runs in the second. Both teams played sound defensive games during the third and fourth innings, and each team earned another run in the fifth.
Down 3-4 at the top of the seventh, the Raiders earned a pair of runs to tie the game. Raider reliever
Anthony Alarcon stepped in to close out the game, but allowed 3 hits and 1 run. The Eagles walked off with their 3rd victory against GRCC in 2 days.
The Raiders are now 2-11 on the season and are scheduled to play one more game down south before heading back home. GRCC will square off against Northwest Florida College in Niceville, Florida at a time yet to be determined. Stay tuned to GRCCRaiders.com for further coverage.
