Box Score 2 Titusville, FL—GRCC’s softball team is now riding a four game win streak following yesterday’s wins over St. Cloud Technical and Community College and Itasca Community College. The wins improve GRCC’s season to 4-5 as they enter today’s games against Itasca CC and Bemidji State University.
Chelsea Hutchinson and Kaitlyn Schneider both had hot bats for the Raiders yesterday. Schneider went 5-for-9 with 3 runs and 2 RBI’s while Hutchinson when 4-for-8 with 3 runs and six RBI’s on the day.
Leading the Raiders in batting this season are Caposey at .476, Schneider at .438, and Donahue at .391. Other category leaders for GRCC are: Hits--Schneider (14); Runs—Caposey & Schneider (10); Doubles—Donahue (8); RBIs—Hutchinson (8).
Casey Cherry is leading the Raiders on the mound having gone 2-1 so far in 2012 with a 2.00 ERA with 11 strikeouts in 14 innings. Starting pitcher Kayla Goodwin has also proven to be an asset on the mount. While 1-2 she has a 2.10 ERA with 10 strike outs while facing 70 batters in 16.2 innings.
Two wins today could put the Raiders over .500 on the year and in a great position to finish their spring games on a high note. Today the Raiders will first take on Itasca Community College at 11:00AM. Following that contest they will face Bemidji State University at 5:00PM.
