Grand Rapids, MI-- The Indians of Lake Michigan College (ranked #19 in the latest NJCAA Division II poll) came to town tonight and split the games with the Raiders in Hunsberger Arena. The lady Raiders dropped to 8-10 on the season after losing by a score of 68-49; their second loss to LMC this season. The men defeated the Indians for the second time this season. With that 70-46 victory, the Raiders improved to a 12-7 overall record.

The ladies started out strong. After both teams had trouble finding their scoring touch in the first half, the Raiders walked off the court with a 29-24 lead. Both squads had a dismal .333 FG percentage in the first half.

An extremely energetic Indian team showed up for the second half of play. After posting low shooting percentages and only 24 points in the first half, the Indians went on a rampage and added another 44 to the board. The team shot for 42% in the second half, while the Raiders saw their shooting percentage sink even further. JaBria Hill led the charge for the Indians, and posted a team high 20 points along with 12 boards. Jordyn Priestley continued her strong offensive play and led the Raiders offense with a team high 15 points.

With the loss the Raiders fall to 8-10 for the 2011-12 season, with a 3-6 record in conference play.

The men followed in Hunsberger Arena. After a huge win over MCCAA West leading Lansing CC, GRCC continued their strong play. The guys downed the Indians by a score of 70-46 to move to a 12-7 overall record and 7-2 in conference play. The Raiders have now won their last 2 games.

T.J. McCutcheon led the Raiders offense with 14 points. Teammates Micah Gates and Tyler Krim posted 10 points apiece, while 4 other members of the Raiders team added 5 points or more. Micah Gates posted yet another double-double with a team high 14 boards to go along with his scoring.

With the victory the Raiders move within a half of a game behind Lansing CC for the lead in the MCCAA West. Both the men and women head to Kalamazoo this weekend to take on the Cougars. Stay tuned to grccraiders.com for further coverage.
