Perrysburgh, OH- The Raiders downed the Hawks of Hagerstown Community College in 3 quick sets on Thursday morning, and are set to advance to the next round of the national tournament. GRCC won by scores of 25-18, 25-13 and 25-6. The Hawks were ranked #15 in the nation heading into the tournament.
The squad earned a quick victory, but will have very little time to rest. The next round of the tournament will begin for them at 5:30 PM in the SHAC, when they face off against a familiar rival, Kishwaukee College. The Raiders faced off against Kishwaukee at the Owen’s Invite earlier this season and dealt them an early season loss.
Although the Raiders have the better record, now at 36-1, and have defeated Kougars, victory is far from guaranteed. Kishwaukee had a rough start to the season with 5 losses in their first 7 matches, but have recovered in an incredible way. The Kougars have improved to an impressive 30-13 record and have now won 6 straight matches.
The teams will take to the court this afternoon at 5:30 PM in Perrysburgh, Ohio. Stay tuned to GRCCRaiders.com and facebook.com/grccathletics for further updates.
