Box Score 2 Jackson, MI – With two 3-0 wins over the weekend, GRCC’s Raider Volleyball team clinched their second straight MCCAA State Championship.
GRCC entered the tournament 30-1, undefeated in MCCAA play, and first squared off against MCCAA East foe Oakland Community College.
Despite their outstanding reputation as national competitors, Oakland’s Raiders were overwhelmed by their western rivals from GRCC and fell in 3, 25-8, 25-19 and 25-17.
Leading the charge for GRCC against Oakland was
Amy Vander Wal who finished the three sets with 10 kills.
Molly Maynard and
Kaitlyn Wolters landed a solid seven kills for GRCC while
Kourtney Wolters added 8.
Nicole Czehowski managed to stay out of the team’s top killer list for that match, but did record a team high in solo blocks with 2 while adding 6 digs for good measure.
Kaitlyn Wolters led the Raiders in digs with 17.
With a win against Oakland behind them, GRCC spared no time taking the MCCAA State belt as they took out Mott Community College with ease 25-16, 25-13 and 25-16.

Kourtney Wolters,
Nicole Czehowski and
Amy Vander Wal who racked up 10, 9 and 8 respectively.
Hannah Geelhoed added two aces, three blocks and five kills to the Raiders sweep of the Bears.
Donning a sparking State Title, GRCC now prepares for the NJCAA Region XII Division II District F Tournament.
GRCC commences the tournament with a first round bye and will face the winner of the Kalamazoo Valley and Vincennes game on Saturday November 4
th at 10AM.
