Benton Harbor, MI-- Both of GRCC’s basketball teams will head to Benton Harbor today to take on the Indians of Lake Michigan College. Heading into play the men have posted a 5-5 record and the women have gone 5-4. The men won their last game against Delta College and the women have won two straight, with victories against Cuyahoga Community College and Delta College at the Lynn Conway Memorial Tournament.
Lake Michigan’s men’s team has experienced some early season hardship and have gone 5-7 so far this season. The Indians appear to have what it takes to play successful, and have begun to turn things around recently, posting 3 victories in their last 5 games. The team is led by sophomore Tim Bates who has posted an average of 19 points per game.
The lady Raiders will certainly have their hands full this afternoon. Lake Michigan’s women’s program is off to a blistering 10-2 start, with a 7-1 record in conference play. Although the team is currently not ranked in national polls, they have received votes. Breauna Rivoli-Johnson has been extremely dominant for the Indians this season with an average of over 26 points per game.
Heading into Benton Harbor both Raiders programs will continue to look for leadership from key players.
