Grand Rapids, MI—The women’s volleyball team is loaded with confidence after a hugely successful weekend in Toledo. The team dealt losses to the #1 ranked Johnson County CC, #6 Oakland CC, and had two other key wins.

On Thursday the Raiders face off against Lake Michigan Community College in the first of two meetings.  Last season GRCC had a perfect record against the Indians, defeating them 3-0 both times they met. With strong play coming from everyone on the team, Coach Chip Will expects another victory.

“Kaitlyn Wolters (who has recently been named GRCC’s female athlete of the week) stepped in off the bench and played phenomenally. She did a fantastic job setting” according to Will. Freshman Nicole Czehowski continued her strong play through the weekend, and more of the same is expected against LMC.

The Raiders have already posted victories against some of the nation’s top teams, and should continue to be a powerhouse in the MCCAA. With such strong play early in the season, it appears as though the girls have a real shot at capturing a national title.
