Grand Rapids, MI—The GRCC Raiders finished out their regular season on a high note. Grand Rapids won both games of a double header against the Davenport University JV Cougars on Monday.

The first game saw the Raiders get off to a strong start. After being down by 6 runs going into the fourth inning the Cougars made a strong bid for a comeback, but pitcher Eric Musselman was able to make the save and limit them to 5 runs. Grand Rapids pitcherAnthony Alarcon was awarded the win. Kyle Orlowski and Nick Jansen both finished the game with 2 RBI’s for Grand Rapids.

The Raiders carried the momentum from the first game into the second round of the double header and were able to top the Cougars 7-6.

Grand Rapids had another strong start and was up 7-1 after the fourth inning, but Davenport hitters AJ Wentzel and Ron Sanders both had 2 RBI’s and the Cougars scored 5 times in the fifth inning. Raider’s pitcher McKinley Portice pitched the final 2 innings and was able to limit Davenport to 2 hits and no runs to make the save.
