Lena Thompson, a freshman at GRCC, is wearing #9 on the 2016 Volleyball team. Thompson resides from Howard City and graduated from Tri County High School. She is excited to start her first season as a Raider because it means being in a new environment, meeting new people, and gaining new experiences. Thompson states, “It’s a whole new change from high school.”

    Over the summer, Thompson worked as a lifeguard most of the time. Gradually, she started getting herself ready for the upcoming season. With it being her first semester, she is still getting used to the changes. She says this is a huge commitment and a lot more intense than previous teams she has been a part of. Thompson admits, “I should’ve done more cardio, but it’s going well.”

    Thompson brings many skills to the table as she is an all around player. Her main positions are Setter and Outside Hitter and has a personal goal to work on her defensive skills. Thompson thinks that the team is solid all around and it’s too early to tell if there are any major weaknesses.

    Her involvement on the team brings positivity and determination. There’s no telling what the season has in store, but it’s sure to be a great one.
