With a 2.19 ERA over 37 innings is the 2012-2013 regular season, sophomore Brendan Bender earns this month's Athlete of the Month Award.
Thus far in the 2013 season, Bender has struck out 31 of 138 batters faces while walking only 13 and allowing a mere 9 earned runs. He has earned a 4-1 record at the mound in seven appearances.
At the plate, Bender has batted .231 for the Raiders in 2013, down from his 2012 average of .364, but during the 2012 Region XII Tournament, Bender batted a cool .350 as the Raiders won the NJCAA Region XII Championship while leading his team in on base percentage at .519.
